Spring Beauty Looks

Even though spring is still quite a ways off, you can wear some of the trends seen during the Spring 2013 fashion shows now for winter. New York, London, Milan, and Paris all showed us some makeup and hair that is great to start wearing now and through Spring. We saw smudged eyes, matte and bright lips and ponytails as long as that drop-waist dress that's hiding in your closet. We can't wait to try some of these trends and we're sure you can't either, so why wait?

The Smudged Eye
The heavy smudged eye seen in Paris like the one above at Guy Laroche is easy to wear now for winter as well as in Spring for those nights out. Make sure you use black or a dark grey to line all around your eyes and apply a little more mascara than you usually would to achieve this look.

Low Ponytails
Ponytails come in all different ways but spotted at Alexander Wang was the low, dropped down to the base of your neck. This look is easy to achieve whether you are running late or not because of its level of chicness.

Bold Brows + Bright Lips
Bold eyebrows and loud lips made a huge statement during New York Fashion week and have been trending for a while, which is great for transitioning from winter to spring. Jason Wu made Cara Delevingne's statement brows even more bold and added a bright red lip to polish off the look.

Hair Trends: 2013

This year the hair trends are all about texture and braiding. Two things that are easily done with just a little bit of practice. Try some of these styles out for change from the daily hair routine!

1. Braided updo: Texture and hanging pieces around the face are key parts of this style
2. Voluminous straight hair: Back comb hair on each side of the part for extra volume
3. Rounded bangs: blow-dry with a round brush for the perfect fringe
4. Hairline braid: Braided and tucked behind the ear. Topped off with waves for a boho look
5. Hidden braid: An unexpected detail to a straight hairstyle
6. Messy bun + headband: Textured hair and a headband set 2 inches from hairline give this look a messy yet put together edge.
7. Braided Chignon: Inside our french braid tucked inside a textured chignon is perfect for a special night out

Beauty: Holiday Glamour

This holiday season pump up the glamour effect with these bold beauty trends!

1. A thick braid, and rough smokey eye: A fishtail braid, or a pumped up version of a regular braid, and smudged brown and grey shadow with black liner give the perfect amount of undone glamour.

2. Waves and red lips: A large barrel curling iron and the perfect shade of red is a classic, go-to look.

3. A puffy bun and nude lip: The perfect day to night look, tease hair at the crown, and add a headband. Add a layer of peach lipstick or tinted gloss to complete the look.

4. Teased hair and sleek, blog eyes: Tease hair from front to back, shade eyes with a dark shadow and finish off by lining with a pop of color.

5. Sleek Bun, with jewels and black liner: Accentuate a heavy middle part with bold eyeliner. Finish off with a jeweled headband or barette.

Fashion Week: Beauty Trends

This runway season the catwalks were filled with a similar trend: au naturale. Showcasing natural hair to natural makeup, almost each designer incorporated this look into their show.
DVF changed things up a bit with a dark brow. This natural makeup with a slightly darker brow is, in our opinion (again), the way to go for a natural look. It doesn't look like you tried too hard but it makes it look like you put some effort into getting ready in the morning.
Alexander Wang tried out the natural makeup but put in a twist: slick hair. This "just got out of the pool" look is perfect for summer, especially if you are going from the pool to anywhere else. Just make sure to add a pop of color to your cheeks to offset the rest of the look.
Derek Lam went for natural everything with a tiny bit of color around the eyes. Another great look for night as the pop of color turns this natural look into something a little more upscale.

Fall Beauty Trends: Our Favorites

The runway shows for fall and winter 2013 and resort 2013 were filled with gorgeous beauty trends and we've put together some of our favorites for you.

BRIGHT + COLORED LIPS
The runway shows for spring 2012 were full of bright colored lips and it seems that this trend is here to stay. Fall/Winter 2013 and Resort 2013 were full of bright and colored lips ranging from bright corals and pinks to purples and reds.
Try:
Le Metier de Beaute Limited Edition Spring Haute House Lip Creme Set or YSL Rouge Volupte

PASTEL EYES + NUDE LIPS
On the contrast, nude lips also made a big presence in the shows and will be quite the beauty trend this fall. Pair this with a pastel eye color like lavender and you'll have a gorgeous, chic look.
Try:
NARS Shimmer Eyeshadow in Strada with Tom Ford Lip Color in Blush Nude

BIG HAIR + DARK EYELASHES
Bring back the beehives and the fake eyelashes! We love this trend and can't wait to pull out our best glam looks this fall. Something about big hair and long eyelashes really makes your whole outfit and attitude feel glam and classic.
Try:
Frederic Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray and Dior Diorshow New Look Mascara

Beauty Trend: The Bun

You don't have to be a ballerina to sport the bun these days. The "bun" has been a popular choice when it comes to hairstyles because of how super quick and easy it is to put together. (Not to mention it keeps the hair out of your face on a hot summer day.)

Celebrities, socialites and fashionistas have been showing us all the different ways to wear this trend, from a messy bun to a perfect top knot. We've put together some photos of our favorite ways to wear this trend and definitely will be trying these on our hair!

Love Your Skin

Skincare is an essential part of beauty and should be apart of every woman's daily regime. With so many options out there it's hard to choose what is best for your skin. We've put together some of our favorite skin care products and the little secrets on the best ways to use them.
1. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream: The best for dry, chapped skin as well as burns, cuts and scrapes. Put on before bed and let it work it's magic overnight! Comes in fragrance and fragrance-free.

2. Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment: An anti-aging lip treatment proven to repair, nourish, plump, and smooth wrinkles around the lip area. After all, you have to treat your lips the same way you treat your eyes!

3. Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic: This heavenly floral-scented, non-drying toner refreshes, soothers and brightens your skin. Alcohol-free, it adds a fine layer of moisture so it's great to spritz on at any time of the day, especially if you are traveling!

4. Josie Maran Argan Oil: A lightweight oil that can be used as a daily moisturizer or treatment for skin, hair and nails. If you use argan oil for your hair, use the excess on your hands to moisturize your skin or put a small amount on your face before you start your makeup.

5. Chantecaille Nano Gold Energizing Cream: A powerful healing cream, it consistently replenishes skin's energy using nanotechnology to safely deliver the power of pure gold.

6. Chanel Ultra Correction and Firming Night Cream: Great to put on your face before bed, this moisturizer goes beyond surface action and offers a firming approach based on a natural lifting effect at
the heart of the skin.

7. Creme de la Mer The Eye Balm Intense: The appearance of puffiness, irritation and other signs of fatigue begin to fade as the eye area is renewed, creating a look of life and youthfulness. Use with the
sterling silver applicator day and night to achieve the best results.

Beautifully Inspired

We are always on the lookout for things that inspire us here at House of Lavande, and as we have mentioned before, one of our go-to destinations for all things beautiful is Anthropologie. A catalog team has recently returned from a trip to  Southeastern Peru, where they captured absolutely stunning images of the land, the people, and the towns. All of these images are featured in the just released November catalog (you can See an online version of the catalog here.) Bright colors, beautiful scenery and the creative touch that only Anthro can provide make this another inspiration filled catalog for all of us to enjoy.

Women of this region in Peru wear colorful woven skirts with petticoat underneath. Almost always paired with a wool sweater and a hat, you can often tell what region a woman is from by the type of hat she is wearing.
