The iconic navy & white stripe is back in a big way! This classic, which will forever be chic, is no longer meant for just french sailors. Maritime has gone modern with new slimmer silhouettes and unexpected pairings. Here are a few of our fashionable inspirations.

Tasty Delights

Finding new and exciting recipes is a particularly favorite past time of the girls here at Lavande, and since summer is officially here in South Florida, finding exciting and creative things to make is even more fun! Here are some fun and delicious ideas for fun summertime treats!

Chopped Salad
In a large bowl combine:
a fresh spring mix, chopped red peppers, tomatoes, sweet corn, chopped cucumbers, and shrimp (try grilling all of the ingredients!) Top with a light dressing of Olive oil, lemon juice and honey whisked together and season with salt and pepper.

Fruit Pizza
This is a delicious treat for dessert or anytime of the day, really!
On a home-made or store bought dough, spread a mixture of cream cheese, vanilla and sugar (blended together until smooth) and top with seasonal fresh fruits. Strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, and apples. Whatever fruit you love will work. You can also top with a fruit glaze to really entice your sweet tooth!
Fruity Spritzer
Hot days and warm, breezy nights need the perfect refreshing cocktail, and this white wine and strawberry (or your favorite fruit) puree spritzer compliment light summer meals and add a refreshing twist to everyday drinks.

Puree a pint of fruit of your choosing, and pour into the bottom of the glass. Add a mixture of white wine, club soda and ice, and voila! A simple and refreshing summer cocktail! (You can use cider or ginger ale for a virgin option)

What are some of your favorite summertime treats?

Pink Grapefruit - The Boho Way

We have the perfect fashionable combo for you, and just in time for the hot summer months. Matthew Williamson, British designer known for his brightly printed boho chic frocks ideal for exotic destinations, has designed a limited edition kaftan as a fashion-forward nod to Belvedere Vodka's exciting new flavor, Pink Grapefruit. The refreshing new flavor is the most versatile Maceration to date, and the kaftan captures this versatility as the summer season's wardrobe essential. The lightweight silk fabric and shorter hemline is perfect for daytime wear, while the chic cut and trim detailing allow effortless transition from day to night. Sipping pink grapefruit cocktails beachside in Ibiza with a chic Williamson kaftan, not a bad fashionable combo indeed.
The limited edition kaftans (in 2 styles, Kaftan and the All-In-One) are available for purchase at Matthew Williamson stores and online at matthewwilliamson.com

Chanel Resort 2010

Just when we're about to plan our summer wardrobes and seaside getaways, the fashion crowd is ramping up full force for resort 2010, aka holiday, as in Nov and Dec '10! Nothing like a little planning ahead. Karl Lagerfeld and his chic jet-set Chanel devotees, kick started the resort collections in style with dream worthy frocks that will be coveted well before the actual holiday season begins. Set in St. Tropez, models walked mostly barefoot (some with must-have jeweled foot accessories!) showcasing 70's inspired caftans, pastels palettes, reworked tweeds, sans-water swimsuits, and long layered necklaces (trend alert!). Here are a few of our favorites looks from the collection.

Tory Burch's Playlist For Summer

We here at HOL are loving the second edition Tory Burch Foundation CD that made its debut this past week. A compilation disk of 16 tracks personally chosen by Tory Burch herself, and all proceeds from the CD benefiting the Tory Burch Foundation and the microfinance partner, Accion USA (which works to provide economic opportunities to women and their families in the US) this is a definite must-have and perfect giftable item. A great mix of reggae, upbeat and internationally inspired songs, it will surely make your playlist for summer island hopping and poolside cocktails. We're especially fond of the first track... hello hello, bonjour bonjour, hola hola... the perfect catchy tune to help kick start summer. All we need now is a chic bikini and some HOL jewels to match!
Here's the playlist:
1. Michael Franti and Spearhead - "Hello Bonjour"
2. Willy Deville - "Come a Little Bit Closer"
3. Devendra Banhart - "Baby"
4. Laura Izibor - "From my Heart to Yours"

Madonna + Dolce & Gabbana = MDG

The Material Girl and Queen of Pop has teamed up again with Italy's most stylish duo, this time on a collection of must-have shades. The new MDG collection offers 6 different sunglasses options, with models ranging from sinuous shapes like cat-eyes (very trend-on), to more modern versions like the wraparound mask with slightly squared contour (very Italian). The shades most distinctive feature though is the MDG logo that's laser-engraved on the outside of the temple, with the letter M written in tiny raised stars (very rockstar)! To look celebrity chic this summer be sure to pick up a pair or two, currently available at Sunglass Hut.
