Burton Machen at Tomas Maier

Tomas Maier, the creative force behind the Italian luxe label Bottega Veneta, and owner of his own equally chic boutiques, will exhibit works from American photographer and artist Burton Machen beginning May 13 at the Tomas Maier boutique in Miami. Burton Machen's pieces are known for reflecting movement, the passing of time, and the effects of mankind. He wants the viewer to think that anything - detritus, graffiti, discarded paper - can be turned into art, and his work conveys a sense of development that's influenced by various forces to ultimately show the impact of humanity upon the world. A definite must-see!

Burton Machen's art work will be on display in Tomas Maier's Miami location starting May 13 running through summer 2010. His work has been featured in Vogue, W, Harper’s Bazaar and has showed at The Whitney Museum.

Modern Mix With Pearls

With Grace Kelly adorning the current cover of Vanity Fair and fashion heading back to the classics, there's no better time then to work a stylish staple like pearls back into your wardrobe. Revisit these gems with a modern mix by layering up with other stones and baubles and pair up in unexpected ways for a current trend-on look. Whether it be a chunky pearl bracelet stacked with an oversize watch and a few equally chic bracelets, or the must-have statement mix-material pearl necklace worn during the day with simple separates. This classic is very right now! Here are a few examples on how to approach these classic baubles with a modern mix in mind.

Make all black even more chic with the addition of a chunky statement pearl necklace. A great piece that will work well from day to night. A great alternative is to layer up 3 or so pearl necklaces for the same effect.

Pearls will be making an equally stylish impact for the fall as seen here backstage at the Rodarte Fall 2010 show.

JCrew May 2010
Work your pearls for day too. Pair up with casual pieces and make a statement beach or pool side look with a fun fashion forward approach.

Vogue-American Experience

We are loving the American Experience fashion spread being featured in Vogue's May edition. From Gibson Girl to Heiress, Screen Siren and Flapper, these looks styled by Tonne Goodman and shot by David Sims represents the various quintessential styles of the All American woman. The Bohemian girl, full of life and abstract expressionism has to be our favorite, as it features the best ways to layer House of Lavande jewelry and is a new representation that sometimes more is best. So pile on the jewels and make a bold statement as this season it seems to be the fashionable way to go.

Statement Silver

Gold statement pieces have been all the rage for quite some time so right now we are loving a new change with all things SILVER. This metallic has been making its appearance both on and off the runways in fresh new ways. Not just your typical silver adornments, these impactful pieces will help update your ensembles instantly. Here are a few ways to wear some our House of Lavande's must-have silver pieces, and some helpful styling tips on how to coordinate these shiny adornments into your everyday looks.

Rocker Chic - we all love a good skinny jean, and lets be honest, we wear them more then one day out of the week. Here are 2 great ways to add silver into your everyday rocker looks. Stack bold silver bracelets with geometric details. Opt for two different sizes for added impact and interest. Not feeling the bracelets, go with a statement silver link necklace that adds instant oh la la.

Nothing says trés chic more then nautical inspired stripes. This casual dress works great from workday to weekend and is easy to switch up with the addition of key accessories. For an au courant look, pair up with a seasonal statement shoe, skinny grommet belt, the current must-have cat shades, a scarf for additional layering, and top the look off with bold silver drop earrings.

Silver accessories are a great way to update any evening look. When you stick within the same color palette play up additional add-ons and layering. Stack 2 silver bangles on one wrist and add an additional to the other. A pop of silver to the ear with statement earrings draws the eye up, and bold yet sleek accessories for the shoe and handbag helps keep the look polished yet fashion forward.
