South Dixie Treasures

Check out Circa Who in the historic Northwood neighborhood for great finds that are both unique and classic

Since we here at House of Lavande deal in the best of vintage couture jewelry, we have a certain appreciation of this same realm in the world of interior design, furniture and sculpture. And lucky for us, there happens to be a mecca of this very concept right in our very own backyard. South Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach is known for its antique galleries and boutiques where top interior designers and other fabulous talents (Michael Kors is a regular visitor), hunts for bijou treasures and grandiose statement pieces. If you've never hit this street full of vintage dealer's delights, it's a definite must next time your in the hood, or have a free weekend with fun time to spare. And we love how 1stdibs.com is currently featuring a round-up of their top antique and gallery picks, complete with restaurant recommendations. With all that seeing at shopping you'll be in the need for a lite bite and glass of champagne. Happy Antique Shopping.

Lanvin + Madison Ave

All of our NYC friends must be swooning over yesterday's opening of Lanvin's latest outpost, positioned perfectly right on Madison Avenue. We are lucky to have one ourselves located in nearby Bal Harbour, but just the thought of walking down a chic city street to the ultimate chic boutique has us giddy with excitement. In Alber's perfect fashion, the store space is equally as French cool as the clothes and accessories. A definite warm welcome to a city that has it all. And can we add, just in time to pick up Lanvin's ultimate leopard prints for prefall. Swoon.

Oh So Chic Camel

This fall, well... rather right now, we are loving camel. This classic neutral is making a major return this fall in wearable must-have separates, cool shifts and coats du jour. Whether your look is polished lady or downtown sleek, there will be plenty of ways to wear camel this season. This perfect shade looks great with any color pair-up, from pastel tones like a lavender hair streak or a vibrant pop of red. To polish the look off, add-on anything leopard and bold gold jewels. Oh so chic.

Sidewalk Catwalk

If your in NYC this weekend and looking for something fashionable to do, head over to the Fashion District for a little Sidewalk Catwalk action. This one-of-kind public art exhibit features 32 one-of-kind designer mannequins outfitted by 30 of NY's leading fashion designers and 2 design student teams. The exhibit showcases custom-built mannequins, displayed runway style down Broadway from Times Square to Herald Square, each modeling a bold, one-of-kind creation of it's designer's artistic vision. Be sure to check out what some of our favorite designers like, Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Naeem Khan and Issac Mizrahi have envisioned for their concrete catwalkers. And if you fancy taking home one of these chic custom creations, don't forget to place a bid during the online auction. Proceeds go to Materials for the Arts, a New York City based organization which provides an incredible variety of donated materials to not-for-profit arts groups and New York City public schools. Fashions finest streetside.

The Fashion Center Sidewalk Catwalk Presented by LF USA runs until Sept 3, 2010 and is free to the public.

HOL + Henri Bendel

Henri Bendel is celebrating their new designer jewelry room and we'll be on hand to toast in cheer. Join Henri Bendel and House of Lavande on Wednesday, July 21st, from 7-9pm to ship champagne and shop jewels. That evening you'll have a chance to preview Fall 2010 collections and personally meet & greet with designers and representatives like our very own Tracy Smith. House of Lavande will have on hand one-of-kind luxe vintage jewels for all the major fall trends, and classic pieces that will forever be in style. Sip champagne and shop jewels, we can't think of a better way to spend a Wednesday eve. Happy Shopping.

Here are some the must-have House of Lavande vintage pieces that will be available for purchase during the event.

Black and gold make a bold statement this fall and you can't go wrong with this Lanvin pendant necklace from the 1970s. Pair-up for day with straight legged jeans and a knit top, or glam up for night with a velvet cocktail number.

Lady-like looks were big on the runways and come fall will be making an equally chic impact streetside. These 1930's hobe earrings are just the right shape and size to remain proper yet fresh and fashion forward.

Back to the basics; this season select pieces that make a statement yet have a romantic sensibility. Whether its a locket, charm bracelet, or this featured Victorian bookchain pocketwatch, opt for heirloom-like jewels that you can hold onto forever and eventually pass along.

Red is hot hot hot. The must-have color for fall is all fun and glamour with this trés chic statement necklace. This 1980s piece can have you looking in vogue in an instant

Geometric shapes and metals are trend-on, wear one graphic piece or stack-up multiple shapes like these 1980's gold bracelets

J'Adore Givenchy

The Couture season is upon us. The créme de la créme of fashion. The showcasing of fashion's truest talent and most elite. All taking place this week in Paris. Yesterday we delightfully posted a gorgeous Jessica Alba wearing House of Lavande to the Dior Haute Couture show, and today we bring you the brilliantness of Givenchy. Riccardo Tisci, designer at the house of Givenchy, presented a breathtaking collection that will undoubedly leave the unimagined inspired. The intricately worked 10-piece collection was mostly inspired by the skeleton form beautifully presented in an angelic manner. Couture is all about luxe, and with baboo fur, Chantilly lace, ostrich feathers, gowns taking 1,600 hours to create, and some demanding six months of work, one cannot but be in awe of these divine masterpieces. What sheer utter brilliantness.

50's Right Now

Right now we are loving a sensible throwback to the 50's in fashion, of course updated in a right now au courant way, and the June issue of British Vogue sets the tone perfectly for this right now look in the feature editorial Far From Heaven shot by Javier Vallhonrat. Summer's subtle off-hues and bold prints – fierce leopard spots, demure florals and beach-scene stripes - boast a Fifties nostalgia. It's time to dress up and think big; big hair, big sandals and big costume jewels. Absolutely divine.
