A Dior Christmas

For a second year running, John Galliano is making Christmas a little more special for the Claridge's hotel in London. Decking the halls with a dazzling Dior designed Christmas tree is what Galliano does best this time of year. Using the ocean as his muse for the "Under the Sea" theme, this special holiday delight comes to life with sparkling silver leaves, pink coral, sea horses, fish, anemones, starfish and jelly fish. I wonder if Mr. Galliano is available next holiday season for perhaps a signature House of Lavande tree?

The Gucci Collector

Have a piece or collection of vintage Gucci and ever pondered how much it might be worth? Well your in luck, Christie's is now offering the very first Gucci-certified online destination for appraising vintage double G products. Here's how it works: a team of experts including Christie's Specialists as well as Gucci's own in-house archivists will assess the item, and Christie's will provide an auction estimate for qualifying submissions. Select owners will have the opportunity to sell their items to Gucci, or in a future Christie's auction, if desired. Sounds like a pretty fab setup. Scour your closets, dust off those G's, you never know what something might be worth.

We adore Kate Schelter and are so excited to see her featured by Vanity Fair. She represents the epitome of girl on-the-go always with class and style, quite de rigueur for House of Lavande. To see more of the fabulous Kate check out her website @ kateschelter.com

who: Kate Schelter. what: Fashion stylist, consultant, and brand builder. where: Photographed at her apartment in Gramercy Park. why: Schelter, whose career path led her from trend reporting, to reporting for Vogue and style.com, to art directing, to styling, to consulting, to brand building, is a regular on the fashion scene. Today she works with brands such as American Express, Zac Posen, and House of Lavande, and she was the founding creative director of Closet Couture. Our guess? You’ll probably spot the always put-together blonde all over street-style blogs during New York Fashion Week. wearing: Her own Yves Saint Laurent trench coat, an Hermés gold bangle, a Tiffany & Co. bracelet, and a silver bracelet from the Musée du Louvre.

Is Short The New Long?

 Emma Watson goes short

The latest news in the worlds of style & beauty is all about Emma Watson chopping her locks, and oh-so-short. Yes, the 60s are making an influential statement throughout the fall and resort collections, but the big question will be, are long locks long gone and will short be the new sure thing? You have to admit Miss Watson looks quite current and glam. Will you be channeling your inner pixie this season?

How short will you go?

Lanvin + Madison Ave

All of our NYC friends must be swooning over yesterday's opening of Lanvin's latest outpost, positioned perfectly right on Madison Avenue. We are lucky to have one ourselves located in nearby Bal Harbour, but just the thought of walking down a chic city street to the ultimate chic boutique has us giddy with excitement. In Alber's perfect fashion, the store space is equally as French cool as the clothes and accessories. A definite warm welcome to a city that has it all. And can we add, just in time to pick up Lanvin's ultimate leopard prints for prefall. Swoon.

J'Adore Givenchy

The Couture season is upon us. The créme de la créme of fashion. The showcasing of fashion's truest talent and most elite. All taking place this week in Paris. Yesterday we delightfully posted a gorgeous Jessica Alba wearing House of Lavande to the Dior Haute Couture show, and today we bring you the brilliantness of Givenchy. Riccardo Tisci, designer at the house of Givenchy, presented a breathtaking collection that will undoubedly leave the unimagined inspired. The intricately worked 10-piece collection was mostly inspired by the skeleton form beautifully presented in an angelic manner. Couture is all about luxe, and with baboo fur, Chantilly lace, ostrich feathers, gowns taking 1,600 hours to create, and some demanding six months of work, one cannot but be in awe of these divine masterpieces. What sheer utter brilliantness.
